Students with start-up business ideas can now register for the competition. Registration will be open until mid-May.
Innovation Starter Agency is organizing the nationwide competition for student start-up business ideas Innovation Academy: Bulgaria Innovation Hackathon for the 8th consecutive year. The culminating event will take place at Literature club “Peroto” in the National Palace of Culture on June 4 & 5 behind closed doors and streamed online through Facebook and YouTube.
Innovation Academy is the largest public-private education partnership in Bulgaria among organizations in the private, academic, public and NGO sectors. This project aims at developing the entrepreneurial skills of students and financing their first business ideas. The event takes the form of a hackathon – competition with elements of programming and prototyping, where students in Bulgaria create their first business projects.
The winning team will receive financial funding of their business idea, provided by the European Investment Bank, as well as a trip to the European institutions in Brussels, provided with the institutional help of the Representation of the European Commission in Bulgaria.
Key partners of the Hackathon are: Representation of the European Commission in Bulgaria, European Investment Bank, America for Bulgaria Foundation, Sofia Investment Agency, Sofiyska Voda, operated by Veolia, Aurubis Bulgaria. Hosted by Literature Club “Peroto”, National Palace of Culture.
This project has thus far educated more than 4000 participants from more than 370 teams, out of which over 15% have started their own companies and brought their business ideas to life, like: CheatBurger, HealthIt, EduBots, Your Sofia, CityIT, Adventure Squad, ParkNShare, StudyHub, Space Division, HubGround, OSimplants, WomanIcer, “Цвете в епруветка” and many others.
